Inuit society and Gender
The men and women had the same roles as they do now , the men were expected to go out and work and bring food home while the women were expected to take care of the home and the children. Everyone was okay with this system, of men working and women "cleaning". These wome also didn't have a say on when they would be getting married.

I think it goes deeper than just women cleaning becasue women were also responsible for gathering foodd, aldo the responsiblity of keeping unity within the family was a huge responsibility because once the female role model s removed or is not present the household tends to break down and if this is present in most of the community, the entire community could collapse.
